Back on track

The next weekend, with only a couple of runs since the Great North Run was another glorious day. Surely early autumn is the best time to run. Headed off towards Brancepeth along the old Brandon line. With the shocking wet weather the tracks have been to wet to run but things weren’t too bad today. That is until Brancepeth itself where there is a virtual bog for about 50 meters.
Unsurprisingly there have been few runners out this past week and it wasn’t until the last mile that I met with another. It was another old acquaintance, Melvyn, who has the distinction of being one of the select few runners who have managed every Great North Run since the start, and even more distinction in never having run in more than 1 hour 50 minutes, despite injuries and illness.
Back to the run itself. Having a few hard sessions does make a difference and overall it was a good time. Next stop hopefully the London Marathon.
