New York Central Park

Well the next run wasn’t the usual boring stuff from around Bishop Auckland. This is holiday time, and this holiday is in New York.
Arrived last night at JFK airport at around 9pm local time but by the time we had traversed the truly awful experience that is USA immigration we didn’t arrive in the hotel until midnight. We had actually walked the 7 or so blocks from Grand Central Station to our hotel, what better way to get a feel of New York.
So this morning, waking bright and very early decided to run in the famous central park.
It was around 1/2 a mile from the hotel and being a Saturday morning not too busy.
The GPS watch took a long time to pick up a signal with all the skyscrapers around and I didn’t really know where to go, but headed off along a likely looking track.
What an amazing place! In the middle of one of the world’s great cities, and yet you could be in a park anywhere. Ran past the zoo but eventually landed up on the main park road.
By now the place was full of joggers, and a full blown cycle race. It was just an amazing experience to savour. Eventually ended up running about 7 miles on quite a hilly circuit, but felt much better for it.
