December 2007. Made a trip up to Eastgate at the weekend to attend the annual awards ceremony of the Weardale & District Motor Club. They hold a series of motorbike trials in Weardale and one of the trials is for charity. They raised £450 for the appeal. A photo of the presentation is below.

Some more donations made on behalf of Gloria Townsend, this time by Pam Osborne. Also received further donations from long standing supporters of the appeal, Mrs Elizabeth Watson and Frances Fraser. They have been wonderful over the past years.

 

November 2007: Great donations continue to come in. I was invited to the Darlington Flower Club annual show held in the Darlington Civic Theatre. The theatre was full of enthusiastic flower arrangers watching a great performance by a professional demonstrator. Afterwards I was invited to receive an amazing donation of £1000. It was a bit daunting standing on the stage in front of a huge audience but well worth it. Thank you all. Another bunch of lovely ladies from the Hurworth flower club also sent in a donation of £100. Then the Newton Aycliffe Inner Wheel have sent in a further £160 raised in a joint car rally with the Newton Aycliffe Rotary club and further funds raised by the Inner Wheel President Margaret Dent selling hand decorated boxes. These ladies have been so wonderfully supportive all these years. Then a lovely surprise to receive a huge donation of £400 from Ella Linsley who celebrated her 90th birthday. Many happy returns and many thanks. Then there was a presentation of a cheque for £1665 from Adrian Crowe and friends who completed a sponsored coast to coast cycle ride. Most of the men work for GSK but were given logisitc help from Graves and Ramsey the decorators. Thanks to all of you.

October has gotten off to a fine start with a magnificent donation of £2160 from the Barnard Castle Golf Club, which was added to by a £750 matched funding donation from Barclays Bank. Thanks also to the Churches Together in Weardale who sent in a wonderful donation of £108.

September  was Gloria Townsend's 80th birthday and friends have been sending in donations in lieu of presents. She must be a very special person, at least Jean Soakell and Ray Turner think so. So do Mrs J thornton, Mrs J Burtt,  Joyce & Susan Greenacre and  Mr & Mrs Feasby 

Thanks again to Joan Elliott and friends for their magnificent £100. They raised as much last year.  Bryan Whiley who runs a Taekwondo club sent in £62.50. Thanks also to  K Bourne  and G Mawson for their donations as well as the congregation of  St Mark's Church Eldon for their £45 and Stanhope WI whose recent speaker asked for their fee to be donated to the appeal, £20. 

Other donors this month include the Woodhouse Close Church Friends in Fellowship group with £120, another fabulous donation of £200 from the Cotherstone Fun Weekend group. Thanks also to the Iceton family for their donation and of course many thanks to all those who donated towards the Stars in Their Eyes night.

June 07 The children of the Wear Valley Amateur Swimming Club decided to hold a fund-raising swimathon, and wanted the money to support local children. They presented a cheque (photo to follow) for £1250. An amazing achievement. Mr Peter Elliot, a blind runner from Barnard Castle once again entered into a local 10km run and raised lots of money, sending another £200 towards the childrens diabetes fund. What an amazing man. Mr John Shaw sent in another donaton, collected on his restored bus. Thanks also to Ella Meadon who live a long way away, but heard about the charity from her Grandmother so decided to raise some money. Steve and Trish Martin have been fund raising in Bahrain, a bit hotter to run there! They sent in a very generous donation as did Mrs A Lowes. Sadly she lost her husband recently but was still so thoughtful that donations were asked for the fund. The  RAOB 3572 Barnard Castle lodge, sent in yet another donation from a fund raising event. Janet Charlton raised lots of money selling knitted dolls and other items from the children's outpatients. There were also donations from  Pauline Jenkins and Mrs E Watson who has supported the charity many times already. After a talk given to the Bishop Auckland branch of  Diabetes UK a cheque as presented to the fund. We were also very lucky to recieve yet another very generous donation from the Luckett family. Thank you all so very much.

May 07    A special thank you to Mr Raymond Ayre who asked who sent in over £400 from his 60th Birthday celebrations in Frosterley. Apparently a great time was had by all. Congratulations and many happy returns

Another very big thank you to Rebecca Robinson, her family and friends, who brought in over £787 raised in a variety of ways, including coffee mornings. Rebecca is a star fundraiser. Thank you.

Thanks also to Melanie Fordham who nominated the fund as a retirement collection. Melanie had also given a lot of support to the insulin pump appeal, so thank you very much and best wishes on your retirement.

A huge thank you to the Mayor of Ferryhill who presented a cheque for £1000 as part of his charity appeal during his year in office. Thank you again.

April 07  Many thanks to all those giving donations this month.

The North East Diabetes Support Group sent in a brilliant £300. Brian and Eva Mc Main once again made a very generous donation, as did the Crook Inner Wheel who presented a cheque for £50. Many thanks also to the Craig family for their donation.

Mr and Mrs Copeland were so generous, asking for donations on the occasion of their Golden Wedding Anniversary and sent in over £400.

March. Many thanks to Jack Jenkins and his family for their donation. A Mr Turner approached me in a local car park and handed over £20 which he'd raised by selling golf balls he'd found on his walks. Thank you very much!

Sheryl Stephenson brought in £300 today, money she raised by doing the Great North Run last year. That's an amazing thing for her to do. Many thanks also to Bethany Stapleton for raising money from selling cards and other efforts. Thanks to you both, Well done!

The Rotary Club of Bishop Auckland have once again come up trumps! They have presented another cheque for £1000. That is over £11,000 altogether and 4 insulin pumps. They have been the most consisten of fundraisers, so an especially big thanks to them all.

February A presentation was held at the Fire and Rescue HQ at Framwellgate Moor on Friday. Once again the charity was fortunate to receive a donation from the Police, Fire and Rescue bonfire charity fund. Another £500, thank you to all who worked so hard to raise the money, especially Sheila Race who applied for the donation. 

A Margaret Weatherall sent in a very generous donation. Diabetes had left its mark on her family. The Hamsterley Players donated an incredible £400 from the proceeds of their performance of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Finally Mrs. Ellen Shields brought in £148 (including donations from Miss Lewis, Patricia Black and Mrs Hanmer). Many thanks to all of you.

Darren Pearson of the Cottles Pub (on the right) and Arthur (on the left)  handed over a cheque for £1,000 following a 'Stars in their eyes' night held at the Willington Working Men's Club. 

A very big thank you also to Mrs E Watson for yet another extremely generous donation in memory of her late husband.

Thanks also to Ronald Hogarth and his family who invited me to attend Ronald's 65th birthday celebrations at the Town Hall of St John's Chapel in Weardale. They asked for donations instead of presents. How amazingly generous.

Feb 26th. Mrs Graham brought in 2 cheques this afternoon. The first for over £50 was from a collecting tin on the counter of Waltons Butchers in Willington, and the second for over £2000 was from her mother, Joyce Walton, who has already raised thousands of pounds for the appeal already. This time the money was collected from a Christmas Fayre, selling Christmas Hampers and selling lavender neck warming sachets. How amazing is that! Also a big thanks to all at Consett Community and Sports College for their generous donation.

January 2007 An amazing donation of £331 from the staff and patients at the Auckland Medical Group in Bishop Auckland. The money was raised by paying a donation instead of sending Christmas cards. That now brings the total raised to over £150,000. How wonderful of so many people to be so generous, hard-working and dedicated. Thank you.

More January donations from Joyce Walton who sent in £100 from a collecting tin on the counter of W Waltons, butchers of Willington. Also an incredible £200 from Alice Heslop on the occasion of her 80th birthday. Many happy returns! Mrs Briggs from the Criminal Justice Unit, at Newton Aycliffe Police Office  sent in £86 from donations in lieu of Christmas cards.  Thank you all very much.

Rebecca Robinson, family and friends have sent in another amazing donation of £700, raised in all sorts of ways. They have been wonderful supporters of the appeal from the very beginning, thank you.

29-1-7 Mr Tom Dixon has come up trumps again with another donation, money collected from the Toft Hill doctors surgery and from a Maltese Diplomat. Thanks also to the Barnard Castle R.A.O.B. for a donation of £50. A very big thanks to Gillian Hill for her sponsorship money of £250 for a parachute jump. Brave and generous.

22-1-7 A lot of donations today. Peases West primary school sent in £49.50 from donations instead of sending Christmas cards, as was a donation of £45 from the Ward 1 Critical Care unit at Bishop Auckland Hospital. BAGH. The St Michaels of Heighington Church, Ladies Working Party sent in £205. This was a share of the proceeds from their Christmas Fair. Thank you all very much.

 

December 2006 Tonight (10-12-6) attended a quiz night arranged by the Black Lion Jolly Girls, and received a cheque for £500, bringing their total donated to over £1200. Many thanks to all the people who worked so hard raising money. Another two fabulous donations today from Mr and Mrs Ranson £200 and Wolsingham Agricultural Society Ladies Supporters Committee £255. Mrs Ranson raised the money by selling quilts and other items at craft fairs around the region.

The end of the year and more donations. A fantastic £250 from Teesdale School, The Free Riders collected money during their Christmas Toy run. They delivered presents to children at Bishop Auckland and Darlington hospitals and collected money at the same time, another £350. Thanks also to Mr & Mrs Milner for their donation and a big thanks to Karen Patton for organising a name the doll competition for more funds. Almost £150,00 raised to date.

November 2006. The indefatigable Mr Tom Dixon organised a musical evening with auction and raffle at the Helme Park Hotel last week. He and his family have been magnificent fund-raisers. So far £913 has been raised with more to come. Many thanks also to the Musicians who entertained all that night, including ATB. Thanks also to Cummins engines for a donation of £100. The total so far now stands at £140,000 raised, although most of that has of course been paid out for insulin pumps.

15-11-6 Today went to the 3M factory in Newton Aycliffe to meet the group of fund-raising cyclists. Last year they raised over £3000, this year the total came to over £4000. They cycled to Carlisle and then along the route of Hadrians Wall to Newcastle. That means another youngster can get a pump. Thanks guys, photo below courtesy of Bevis Waddington

More wonderful donations in November. Thomas Iceton and his family brought in a cheque for over £1000, raised from a coffee evening at their home. What an amazing thing to do.

Also my grateful thanks to Millie Bradley who instead of having presents for her christening celebrations asked for donations instead and raised almost £500.

Mr Tom Dixon brought in another £100 , bringing the total raised at the music night to over £1000, and tonight 27-11-06 I attended the annual meeting of the Shildon & District FLower Club where they had raised another £500 for the appeal. The fund now stands at over £147,000 raised.

Tonight had a great donation of £700 from the Bishop Auckland Rotary Club. Altogether they have raised over £10,000 and enough to buy 4 insulin pumps. Thank you so much.

October Many thanks to the Robinson family for sponsoring me for The Great North Run, also thanks to Stefa McManners and Lyn Reilly for sponsorship. My thanks and condolences to Mrs Jean Campion who sent on money donated in memory of her husband Ron. More thanks and condolences to Mrs Snaith who sent in money in memory of Doris Kent. All these generous people have brought the total to over £135000. The Wolsingham Black Lion Jolly Girls raised £400 from a fund raising coffee morning, and Barclays Bank matched fundraising scheme brought in another £351, bringing the total to over £137,000. Thanks ladies for a brilliant effort. 

So many donations this past couple of weeks. £220 from the NWL Derwent Reservoir and Tunstall Fly Fishers fishing competition. More donations from Mrs Joyce Walton and the Cottles pub in Willington, £350. Brian and Eva McMain have sent in yet another donation as did Jill Kisler, money raised at the Great North Run. Mrs Joyce Guy sent in money donated at her Golden wedding celebration, congratulations. George Wimpey sent in a donation at the behest of Mr Tom Dixon whilst Linda and Barry Crawford of Barrow in Furness sent in £500 for money donated instead of birthday presents. The Stanhope Choral Society donated the proceeds from their annual concert, £300 whilst the Barnard Castle Scottish Dancing Group sent in the proceeds of a raffle held at their annual dance, another £80. Finally condolences to Mrs Dufton who asked for money to be donated instead of flowers in memory of her husband John. The amazing Newton Aycliffe Inner WHeel Club have sent in another donation of £500.

So many wonderful and generous people, thank you as the total donated is now over £139,000

Congratulations to Rachel Gibson who not only completed the Great North Run but also raised £820 in sponsorship money. That's amazing. Many thanks also to Rachels Sister and Brother in Law who asked for money instead of presents at the christening of their beautiful son. That is just so generous and thoughtful.

September For some reason all the postings about fundraising for this month have gone astray! So many thanks to St Thomas church, also to the Methodist ladies Bright Hours group. Thanks also to the puils of class 6 at St Annes School in Bishop Auckland

30th August A magnificent donation from the Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor Round Table of £1000. Also a very big thanks to Tom Dixon for yet another fundraising effort and another £200, and another very big thanks to Mr Shaw who brought in £34 from giving rides on his vintage bus. Thank you all very much

23rd August Been away for a couple of weeks so not a lot to report. Many thanks to Mrs Vickers, the Gibson family and to Mrs E Nixon. Mrs Nixon sent in money raised from a domino drive held at the masonic hall in Middleton Teesdale. I also received £100 for a lecture given about pumps so that goes into the fund too. Many many thanks to all.

2nd August Lots of donations to report. Mr Tom Shaw who drives an old style double decker bus regularly sends in donations from passengers, including another £50 today. Then the Cotherstone Village Fun Weekend sent in £255 together with another £255 from the Barclays Bank matched charity funding scheme. Another cheque was sent in on behalf of Mr and Mrs Bowes Diamond wedding anniversary. The Bishop Auckland Scout Group raised £110 from their St Georges Day Church Parade. Finally the money raised by the Barningham village was supplemented by another £268 by the refunding of Gift Aid. All in all a wonderful supplement to the charity funds, very welcome as so many children are wanting to start. Thank you all so much

24th July My grateful thanks to Miss Margaret Boon who brought in a donation in memory of her son who sadly died recently. Thanks also to Catherine, Steve and Trish Martin for their generous donation.

16th July Again a whole series of donations to report. A donation from Bishop Auckland Methodist Church, thank you. Then a very large cheque from Denise Thompson on behalf of the Diamond Wedding celebration of Dennis and Isobel Bowe. Thank you.

Also Woodhouse Close Church Friend in Fellowship  group who raised £150 at a charity musical night. Then another £200 from the amazing Peter Elliot from Barnard Castle, a blind runner. Finally a donation from E Vickers. Many thanks to all.

1st July So much to report. At the Inner Wheel Club of Barnard Castle birthday celebration, the President Julie handed over a cheque for £220 and at the same celebration the Inner Wheel Club of Newton Aycliffe presented a cheque for another £150 and a few days later Bishop Auckland Inner Wheel sent in a cheque for £50. Thanks to all the wonderful ladies for their fundraising and support.

Then a lovely letter from Julie Dodds who asked for donations instead of birthday presents and sent a cheque for £210 and another cheque from J Lauder, a friend added to that total. The Ferryhill & Sedgefield flower club sent in a donation of £200. Mrs Watson made a further donation on the anniversary of the sad death of her husband.

Then Alicia Graham brought a cheque of £669.80 to the hospital. It was money raised by a sponsored walk from St James Park, Newcastle to Willington by Sharon Goldsbrough who works at Riley's Fish and Chip Shop in Willington.

That brings the total to over £130,000. Thank you all so much.

20th June Many thanks to the Woodhouse Close Church Friends in Fellowship who sent in a cheque for £150, raised at a recent Musical Charity Night.

19th June Kate Curtis, president of the Crook Inner Wheel phoned to say that they have raised £1000 for the appeal. Thank you to all the ladies who helped with the fund raising. Hopefully a photo to follow. Also another letter from Dr Jill Kisler who ran her second marathon this year in Edinburgh and sent in a further £55. Thanks Jill.

15th June 06 A great night tonight! The pupils of St Chad's School, Witton Park and St Wilfed's School, Bishop Auckland had a sponsored football match, organised by Tom Kelly. They came to the hospital tonight and presented a cheque for £720 and a total of £745 altogether. 

12th June Many thanks to the James and the Newton family for their continued support and another £25. Also many thanks to Judith York for her donation of £20. Many thanks olso to Paul Musgrave. He ran the London Marathon and presented a cheque for £550 today. Thank you very much!

24th May Craig Robson from Darlington Rotaract brought in a cheque for over £250 today, thank you, and Wolsingham Primary School sent in another wonderful donation of £116.19. The total stands at over 126,000 now.

23rd May Many thanks to Mrs Edith Edmundson and family for their very secial donation of £225. Also thanks to the Frosterley W.I. for the £56.50 they raised from a charity coffee morning. Thank you all.

10-5-6 The Weardale Flower Club sent in a lovely donation of £250. Thank you.

3-5-6 The Inner Wheel of Newton Aycliffe delivered a very generous donation of £300 today. Thank you. Together the Rotary clubs, Inner Wheels and Rotaract have been amongst the most consistent and generous supporters of the appeal. 

19-4-6 More fund raising from Willington. £584.50 was brought in, further money from an amazing group of people. Darren Pearson and Sharon Riley organised a 'Stars in their eyes' night, as well as a blind auction at the Cottles pub in Willington. Joyce Walton had been selling Christmas and Easter hampers, and William Walton had kept a charity box in his butcher's shop. That's over £2000 raised in total. Than you very much. 3-4-6 A wonderful day. Tom Dixon organised a fashion show earlier this week and today brought in almost £1200. Dr Hackett from Stanhope raffled a bike and sent in £243. Jill Kisler, a doctor who used to work in Bishop Auckland, raised £125 in sponsorship for running the Barcelona Marathon, I'm jealous! Finally Elliot's Garage of Tindale Crescent sent in £50. Thank you all so very much!

18-3-6 A splendid donation from the Shildon Railway Institute OTMS dance club for £100 and a family donation from the Spence's. Thank you.

11-3 6 Barnard Castle Rotary Club presented a cheque for £324 this week, another very fine donation from them. Photographs Also a cheque for £200 from the wonderfully named Wolsingam Music Makers, thank you. Another very welcome donation from the Thomson family. Thanks to all concerned.

26-2-6 A delayed response but thanks to all at St Cuthbert's crèche of Middleton St George for a splendid donation of £323. It is a little sad that the money comes with the closing down of the crèche after many years. 

10-2-6 Mr and Mrs Race along with Jack came to present a cheque for £200 from the combined Durham Police and Rescue Bonfire night charity night. That's the second time the charity has benefited, thanks to all concerned. Also today four of the 3M cyclists came to present their cheque for an absolutely incredible £3432 Photographs. This past couple of weeks have seen over £5000 donated. What an incredible group of people you all are.

8-2-6 Another amazing series of donations. Mrs. Audrey Dodds asked for donations instead of birthday presents for her 70th birthday. I hope she had a wonderful birthday because she obviously is very much loved and sent in almost £700, thank you. Thanks also to Mrs. Colling for her donation of £200, and finally a big thanks to the Smiley Club of Woodhouse 

 Close Church after school club. They raised over £85 at a Halloween disco. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4-2-6 Almost £1000 of donations in the past week. A donor who wanted to remain anonymous sent in £500, thank you so much for giving enough details so that gift aid could be claimed for as that increases the donation by 20%. Thanks to the Play Pals Toddler Group who shared out money between many worthwhile causes but also sent in over £100. Many thanks also to the staff, pupils and parents associated with the Oaks school in Spennymoor who made a donation of £200. Also a very big thank you to Elaine Smith who raised a lot of money through the Great North Run and again shared out the money including a wonderful £138 towards insulin pumps. 

25-1-6 Thank you to Bethany who is only 10 years old. She had a sponsored spell, got all thirty of her spellings right and raised £140. That is just wonderful.

20-1-6 The Graham family, relatives and friends have been collecting money in a variety of ways. A collection was held at the Cottles pub in Willington. Hampers sold and collections were made at Walton's Butchers. In all over £600 was raised and there are plans for more. Thank you all very much

18-1-6 It just gets better! Paul Richardson has just emailed to say that the 3M bike ride last year, has finally raised a total of £3,432, fantastic. Also more money has been brought in in memory of Rebecca. 

15-1-6 A lot more donations. Many thanks to the Inner Wheel of Barnard Castle for sending in £600, then more big donations from Fishburn Primary School. 

They had raised money from a raffle at the Christmas concert. Thanks also for a donation from St Joseph's Coundon. They collected money from a balloon race. Thanks also from Mr and Mrs Graham.

 

 

People are being so generous. Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Boon and all who donated money in memory of Margaret Slater, also many thanks Mrs Edwards who brought in money doanted in memory of her father Clifford Crewe. Many thanks also to Mrs Sutton and last but not least, a big thank you to Kate Hewitson and Samantha Bunkel who raised money by singing Christmas Carols.

8-1-6 Lots of donatations to report. Thank you to the Hallgarth Surgery. Also a very big thank you to the secretaries from the pathology department at UHND for their donation. Thanks also to Mr and Mrs Farmer, along with Mr & Mrs Pallister. Another thank you to Mr and Mrs Wright who sent in money in remembrance of a very special young person, Rebecca..

30-12-5 A very big thank you to Hannah. Along with her family she walked Hadrians Wall, all 84 miles of it and managed to raise a total of £1125. That is phenomenal and a great way to end the year. Thank you.

23-12-5 Thanks to all at St Joseph's School, Coundon. The children and staff raised money with a balloon race.

20-12-5 Mr and Mrs Baxter, who had previously sent in a very large donation in celebration of their wedding anniversary have made another large donation. Thank you. The staff and customers of William Hill Bookmakers in Willington held a Christmas raffle and sent in a donation of £300. Thank you all very much.

9-12-5 The Weardale Nursing and Relief Sickness Fund have given an amazing £1250 towards the fund, whilst Cotherstone Primary School have also sent in a wonderful donation of £100. Thank you all.

12-12-5 Lots of donations to report. Tom Dixon held an auction night at Witton Park community centre and raised a total of £1400 from tickets, auction and donations. Thank you very much. Also a big thank you to the children of Cockton Hill Infant School Photographs who collected £100 from their harvest festival and presented the cheque today. Thanks also to Mrs Heaviside who sent a donation in lieu of Christmas presents and Mr and Mrs Hunter who sent in a donation instead of Christmas Cards.

27-11-5 A cheque for £2000 was presented at Barningham Parish Church today at their Christingle Service. Thanks to all those who helped raise money by walking the Teesdale Walk and all who sponsored them. What an amazing achievement for such a small village.

24-11-5 Thanks to the people of Evenwood and especially to Peter and Judith. Over £1000 raised tonight. Many thanks to Peter's Grandad for his personal donation.

12-11-5 Not many reports, but donations are still coming in. Thank you very much to the staff and pupils of St John's Chapel primary school, who raised money by dressing up as their favourite pirates. The residents of Weardale must have been walking lots of planks!

24-10-5 Whilst it has been impossible to keep the web site updated there have been some marvellous donations. Rachel and Darren Gibson raised over £1100 from sponsorship of the Great North Run. Alicia Graham and her family had a fayre at Willington and so far have raised over £1600. The Glaxo Staff Charity and Community Fund sent in a cheque for £500 as did Lesley Davy. The total is now over £100,000 and it means that the next 10 children can get a pump without any concern at all. It will also allow us to purchase a very special blood glucose monitor that will allow the children on pumps to get even better control of their diabetes. Thank you all so very much.

11-10-5 Lots to report. Tonight at Cotherstone village hall the money raised from the Cotherstone fun weekend was distributed to a variety of local charities, especially around the village but also to the Air Ambulance appeal and to the insulin pump appeal. 22-9-5 At a presentation in Spennymoor tonight, the Darlington Rotaract presented a cheque for £1000. 3-7-5 A busy weekend. The Barningham Parish had a village fete in preparation for their major fund-raising later in the year. At the fete some of the ladies from the Staindrop 'Shape and Tone' group  presented another cheque for £500 Photographs. They have raised £1000 between them. Thank you ladies. 17-5-5 Eileen Mawson sent in a cheque for £400 today. She had raised all the money by taking a collecting tin to a local supermarket. She gave up hours and hours of her spare time to do this. What an amazing person.

12th May Such a wonderful surprise today. A very special young lady called Rebecca had organised a fund raising coffee morning with lots of activities, helped by her family. Altogether they raised £800. Thank you so very much.

29th November Tonight a cheque for £250 was handed over by the president of Spennymoor Rotary club. 24th November. A very sad and moving occasion today. Councillor Gray, who sadly died recently was a member of one of the local PCT's acting as a non-executive member. I had known him for many years and he was a great supporter of patients and the health service. His widow Jo, who is also a councillor for Great Aycliffe, asked for donations for the children's diabetes trust fund to be made instead of flowers and presented the cheque for over £230 today. Thank you for your generosity at such a sad time.

16th November Lots more donations. First of all another £500 from the Ash Tree bringing the total to over £2000. Then Barclays Bank through their employer donation matching scheme have provided another £750. Then Toft Hill Primary School held a Denim for Diabetes day and raised £112.50. Thank you all very much

9th November The Nicol family had bid for a home cooked gourmet meal at the town hall auction in June. They arranged for extra guests but the cook Aileen Little waived the charges for a donation to be made. Thank you. Also thanks to Dr Nigel Cooper who asked for his lecturing fee from the North East Division of the British Institute of Embalmers to be donated to the fund. Finally a very big thank you to to St Mary's RC Church in Bishop Auckland.  They have a bottle to collect small change and donated the latest collection to the charity.

28th October The Robinson family have raised another fantastic amount of money. That comes to almost £500 altogether so far. Thank you very much.

21st October It just gets better! Dave Smith, a Farmer from Weardale raised money from the Great North Run, an amazing £460. The total raised now stands at over £60,000.  Time to arrange for more children to start on pumps.

20th October An amazing day for the charity. Bill Richardson brought in £1542 from the latest fund-raising night at the Ash Tree Pub in Spennymoor. There is more to come and the possibility of employee matched sponsorship which could see another £750. Another fabulous donation came courtesy of the English family who held a fund raising event at their church. That is enough money for another pump. Thanks to all who contributed to both events.

17th October The Johnson family hosted a jewelry event recently. From sales that night Mr and Mrs Bomanji have made a generous donation to the fund. Thanks to all concerned. Also a very special thank you to the lady who gave a donation of what she could afford and to the collector who passed it on. Little kindnesses like these are very touching. Thank you.

7th October Simon Melvin & Emma Clark raised £115 from sponsorship on the Great North Run. Another runner was Ian Wintrip who has forwarded on a donation from Straumann Ltd for another £100. Thank you all. Today a cheque for £2300 from the 2004 swimathon arrived. So another pump can be paid for. 24th September  Some great donations to catch up on. Christine Douthwaite raised a lot of money from sponsorship of the Great North Walk. The Woodhouse Close Methodist Women's bright hour have made another donation, and many thanks also to Elaine and her work colleagues. 18th August The Prison Service Charity Fund made a wonderful donation. The application was made by the Wright family so very many thanks. More wonderful news from the Rotary Club. The money raised by this year's Swimathon will pay for another pump.

12th August Mr Roy Swainston in celebration of his wife managed to raise over £1400 pounds to share between the NSPCC and the insulin pump appeal. Such generosity of spirit. Thank you very much.

12th July 04  The support from local schools is truly wonderful. Between them they have raised almost £2000 in a year. The latest schools to have raised money, mostly by dressing in denim or dressing up for the day are: Stanhope Barrington Cof E School, Cotherstone Primary School, Whitworth School, Ramshaw Primary School, Wearhead School and Witton-le-Wear School. Thank you all so very much. I hope they all had fun raising the money.

Another group of people who have given tremendous support are the local Methodist congregations with donations from the Methodist Homemakers and the Ladies Circle from Bishop Auckland. Thank you very much.

7th July 04 The retiring president of the Bishop Auckland Rotary Club handed over a cheque to pay for the next insulin pump to be given out next week. Thank you for such fabulous support. You are going to make a real difference to a young person's life.

Mrs Shiela Race asked the Durham Police Fire Bonfire appeal for a donation and they agreed to give a fantastic £500! Mr Peter Elliot of Barnard Castle raised £200 on a 5km fun run. A fantastic achievement on its own but even more remarkable when you realise that he is visually impaired.

The Richardson's of Spennymoor have managed over £160 to date and have an auction planned for Sunday August 24th in the Ash Tree Pub in Spennymoor.
